Our good friend (and Post Atomic Horror guest this week!) Vishal Bharadwaj delivered some amazing submissions. There are no dickbats to be found, but… you know what? Why limit ourselves? The gauntlet has been dropped; we will accept any hilarious submissions you have based on the Trek animated series, dickbats or no. Bring it!

This blog is tangentially connected to the Post Atomic Horror podcast, a show dedicated to reviewing all of Star Trek beginning with the original series. During this effort, we discovered the existence of dickbats, and felt the need to share our pain with you.

Dickbats are… well, they’re more like pterodactyls than bats, I suppose. But the “dick” part is definitely accurate. (Thanks to our pal Brian for coining the term.)

In a number of episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series (4 episodes by our count, and we’re not through the entire series yet), Kirk and company encounter these similar-looking, similar-sounding wingéd purple things. Each time, they’re encountered on a new planet. So apparently our galaxy is just littered with dickbats.

It is our hope that dickbats can become… if not a proper Internet meme, at least an amusing diversion for a short time. Because, honestly, we find them hilarious.

Here are a few images to get you started.
